The Work-Study Award is given to one especially motivated and promising student at PFI each year. It is a scholarship for 100% of the tuition for the academic year AND a working-internship with our marketing and production office. The recipient of the award will study the same accredited course as their classmates and will additionally spend 5-10 hours per week in the office.
Applications are now open for the PFI Work Study Award Video Contest and we’re getting a lot of questions about this extraordinary opportunity! Our admissions administrator, Nora, and our current Work-Study Award student, Rostik, answer some of the pressing questions from candidates.
Question: What is the Work-Study Award exactly?
Answer (Nora): The Work-Study Award is given to one especially motivated and promising student at PFI each year. It is a scholarship for 100% of the tuition for the academic year AND a working-internship with our marketing and production office. The recipient of the award will study the same accredited course as their classmates and will additionally spend 5-10 hours per week in the office.
Question: How do you choose this one student?
Answer (Nora): Choosing the recipient of the Work-Study Award isn’t easy. We consider our candidates holistically based on their video submission, CV, motivation letter, and finally, an interview. It is important to us that the candidate is not only a good filmmaker, but also reliable, hard-working, creative, and driven. Moreover, we want to understand your deeper “why.”
Why do you want to make films?
Why do you want to study and work with us specifically?
Where do you come from and where do you want to go in your career?
These answers are the most valuable for us when choosing our next Work-Study Award recipient.
Question: Is it too much on your schedule to work AND study at PFI? Will I be too busy and stressed?
Answer (Rostik): Working and studying at the same time is more demanding than regular studies, but the PFI office team is great. I become friends with everyone pretty fast, and I’ve been enjoying making different kinds of content for the marketing team. If you are worried that you are not gonna be able to have a good work/life balance, do not worry, you going to have enough free time.
Question: What is the most valuable thing you get from doing the Work-Study program (besides free tuition)?
Answer (Rostik): The PFI work-study program is the best way to boost your filmmaking skills and try yourself in a professional environment. I’m really grateful for the opportunity to work AND study at PFI. Now I’m ready to jump into the professional film industry.
