We are proud of the fact that all our teaching faculty are active film professionals. Due to the nature of this career, our faculty are sometimes called to work on a project and they are unavailable to teach during any given term. For this reason, we have a roster of filmmaking faculty covering every subject. Not every faculty member will teach during every term, but students will have the opportunity to learn from several of the faculty members listed below.
Victor Dohlsten is a Swedish actor with a long list of credits from TV shows like Carnival Row, Genius, Hanna, A Small Light, and Huss. Victor studied acting for more than four years, splitting his studies between Sweden, Italy, and the Czech Republic. For the past seven years, he has been based in Prague and performing with the Prague Shakespeare Company.
While shooting projects across Europe, filming a long list of commercials, TV shows, and movies, Victor is also making a name for himself in his home country of Sweden. He has been touring around Sweden for many years with four self-written shows. Performing at some of the great stages such as Gothenburg National Theatre, Gothenburg Opera House, The Concert Hall, and many others. Victor is also an acclaimed acting teacher and has been teaching in both Sweden and the Czech Republic.
Marc Cram is a founding member of Dad’s Garage Theatre Co. (Atlanta, GA), Blood, Love and Rhetoric Improv (Prague, CZ), and The Whammo Players (Tallahassee, FL). In a career spanning over 30 years, Marc has performed in thousands of improv shows, hundreds of scripted plays and musicals, as well as numerous films, television shows, and video games. As an improvisation instructor, Marc has taught at dozens of theaters and universities across America, Europe, and the Middle East including Dad’s Garage Theatre Co., The Courtyard Playhouse (Dubai, UAE), English Lovers (Vienna, AU), Prague Film School (Prague, CZ), Improtresk and ZaPatra Improvisation Festivals (CZ), Urban Impro (Bucharest, RO), and Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA). His clients for corporate improv workshops have included Pfizer, UBS Bank Switzerland, and Emerson Medical.
Dasha graduated in 1971 with an MA in theatre from the Academy of Arts in Prague. Before 1980, Dasha was a protagonist of the traditional Czech “Theatre on the String” (Husa Na Provazku) and she performed actively in film and TV series. In 1980, she directed with the Freiburg National Theatre in Germany and performed in the National Theatre of East Paris. She then emigrated to Australia from Paris, where she continued her career as an actress, and later, as a director and producer. Dasha wrote and directed in the Sydney Opera House, as well as other theaters, and taught at Sydney University and the University of New South Wales.
In Australia, Dasha was awarded Best Actress for her leading role in the film by “Displaced Persons” by Luis Nowra at the Penquin Awards (the local equivalent of the Oscars in Australia) in 1986. She is also Australian Film Institute Nomineé.
Now, returned to her home country of the Czech Republic, Dasha has been teaching acting and directing at FAMU for 24 years.
Pavlína is Prague based professional dancer and teacher. She graduated from the Prague Dance Conservatory under the guidance of Hana Vláčilová and Pavel Ždichynec. During her studies she performed with the National Theatre in ballets like The Sleeping Beauty, Raymonda, Vain Caution, and Half Dances; with the ballet of the North Bohemian Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ústí nad Labem in The Nutcracker; and in independent evenings at her conservatory. As a professional artist she has choreographed dance scenes and danced on screen in several movies and tv shows.
Her master’s degree in classical dance pedagogy from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague equips her to provide the best training for the young actors at Prague Film Institute.
Igor Kristof is President of the CSFA – Czech Stunt Fighters Association – a stunt coordinator, sword master and film producer. He is the youngest of the brothers who founded the Three Brothers production company back in 1991. In 1975 he also co-founded the stage fencing group, ‘The Cadets’.
With The Cadets, he helped give rise to the fame of the Kaltenberg Knight Tournament and, with more than 3 000 performances, has gained acclaim for the art of stage fencing throughout Europe, USA and the United Arab Emirates. Between years ´90-´93 he independently directed group performances in Germany and Denmark. He created dozens of choreographies for TV and film projects and, as Assistant Director, has more than 60 documentary productions behind him, in most case international projects. Since the 90’s he has also been producing feature movies and TV series.
